Should the SATs be eliminated?
I know the pain of standardized tests first hand, and continue to experience this pain, studying for the LSATs. That is why I can empathize with all of you. It seems that you do enough work to prove yourself to colleges with all of your classes, APs and extracurricular activities you are involved in yet you still have to spend time and money prepping for, and taking, the SATs. I know this extra time taken could be used more productively. Ultimately there is a tradeoff: prepping for this test or doing other activities. It is clear that colleges use this as way to rank everyone against each other, but are they really necessary? There are ways to study for this test and it seems that people who are naturally good test takers will have an advantage over those who are possibly good learners and poor test takers. College is not all about test taking so why does one test have such an impact on your college acceptance chances? What do you think about the SATs? Let me hear your thoughts on the SATs and whether or not you agree with how they currently impact your application.
